A Snowy Prince View

Recently I’ve seen a lot of funny videos about the Fairytale Princes (Especially the Disney ones), and what they would be like if they were real people in this day and age. From the videos and the stories, the princes are portrayed as shallow men who only go for the princesses looks rather than who they are. Additionally, in some of the fairytales I grew up with, the princes are unable to recognize the princesses or their true love when they are not in their beautiful ball gowns or not how they originally looked when the princes first saw them.

Also in Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the prince kisses Snow White and that is how she is brought back to life however in the Grimm’s version of Snow White (Snow Drop), she is brought back to life only due to the prince’s servants stumbling causing a jolt which dislodges the piece of poison apple causing it to fall out of her throat (Not entirely sure if that would work in real like but hey its a fairytale =D ).

So I decided to try and do a poem from the prince’s point of view:

Deciding to take a walk through the woods,
With my servants by my side,
Away from the vanity of this kingdom’s Queen,
Though she may be fair,
There’s something unnerving about her stares…

I stumble upon a most interesting thing,
Several Dwarfs surrounding a glass coffin,
On top of a mountain,
And in it contains a maiden much fairer,
And sweeter looking than any woman I have ever seen…

A peaceful but sad look lays upon her,
Fair face…
She does not look deceased,
but simply asleep…

Then I see it,
The golden words that are inscribed onto the coffin,
Royal Princess,
Could it be?

Could she be the one the king seeks,
His fair daughter,
Whom was said to have run away,
And never to have returned,
The one that has caused,
This Kingdom’s King’s solemn disposition…

The princess from a far kingdom,
This Kingdom,
Whom My father always told me stories of,
A princess so fair and so sweet…

That I had fallen for her so many times,
Now I actually see her in bodily form,
I’ve decided if I am unable to marry her,
I will protect and cherish her in this coffin,
As my dearest possession…
But I simply cannot live without her in my life..

The dwarfs seem to be in the same mind as I,
But taking pity on me,
As they must of her,
When she came into their lives,
They finally let me have her…

Thus I asked my servants,
To carry her coffin,
On their shoulders
Back to my palace!

Oh no! They have fallen,
Are they ok? Is she ok?

Wait, she has awakened,
As if from a deep slumber,
And of course she is as surprised and confused,
As I would be in her situation…

She askes where she is,
I say joyfully with me!
To ambitious maybe,
But I do not want to lose her,
Or for anyone to hurt her…

So I will tell her what I will give her, LOVE:
“I will love you better than anyone in the whole wide world.”
And ask her:
“Will you come with me to my father’s place and be my wife?”
For I want her to stay forever by my side!

She said YES!

I will give her everything she needs,
And wants within reason of course
First things first,
She seeks revenge on that vain queen…
And I will abide by my bride to be…

So to the wedding,
The queen from her Kingdom is invited,
Fearfully she recognizes my princess,
In hot-red iron shoes the Queen is put,
To dance away the rest of her life…
Whilst Snow Drop and I live Happily Ever After…
Telling the people of the land the strange way in which we met…

The Grimm’s Snow White a.k.a Snowdrop

The apple is as red as my lips,
This is what the old woman gives,
But could it be,
That beautiful wicked witch.
The one who sent a hunter after me…

For I am the centre of her jealously,
She is using all her power,
To get rid of me…

After she found out,
The hunter had set me free,
Realizing he couldn’t do her evil deed,
She tried to get me again and again…
And would have succeed,
But each time I was saved,
By my several dwarf friends…
And they warned me continuously,
Not to accept things from those I do not know…

Saying:
“Beware of your step-mother,
She will soon know that you are here,
Be sure to let no one come in…”

But it couldn’t be this old lady,
For she seems harmless enough…,

I’m sure just one bite,
Won’t hurt,
Plus she has even shown me,
With a BITE!
And nothing has happened to her…

So I take a….BITE*

Oh no,
What is this feeling,
What a mistake I have made,
I should not have trusted the old lady,
Her laugh pierces my ears…

The beautiful apple is poisoned,
Why didn’t I listen?
To the dwarfs,
Who’s care I was in…

Now I’m falling….
My life seems so very short lived…

Several Years pass…

Oh…Who has awakened me?
A handsome prince it seems…
Could he be my lover?
I hardly know him,
But he saved me…

So I guess I’m in his debt…

But first I’ll pay back that woman,
Who put me in this situation,
For in hot iron shoes,
She will be continuously dancing to the beat,
Until she fades away for eternity …

Now I am free of her,
It is my time to live my life,
Happily ever after…
